PUBLIC HEARING

WATER DISTRICT OF THE TOWN OF PRATTSBURGH
Proposed Amendment of Water Rent Rates

Notice is hereby given that a Public Hearing by the Town Board of the Town of
Prattsburgh, County of Steuben, State of New York, will be held at the Town Hall, 19 North
Main Street, Prattsburgh, New York, on the 18th day of August, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. upon the
proposed rate increases for water rents as hereinafter specified for properties within the
Prattsburgh Water District.
Water Rent Rates and Associated Fees
The water rent rates in “1.a. and b.” are amended as follows:
1. Water Usage:
a. commencing January 1, 2026, a minimum charge for
0-1,000 cubic feet of water: $ 69.00
b. commencing January 1, 2026, each 1,000 cubic feet over
the minimum of 1,000 cubic feet of water $ 81.00
(billing shall be prorated to each cubic foot of consumption):
The following rates, charges and policies shall remain unchanged:
c. annual water use charge: Prattsburgh Fire Department: $185.00

 

2. Discontinuance and restoration (reconnecting) Fee:
a. Discontinuance or shutoff of water service for any reason: $45.00
b. Restoration or reconnecting water service: $45.00

 

3. Debt Reduction Fee - All real property tax map parcels
within the Prattsburgh Water District which have a Prattsburgh
Water District water main either passing through the parcel or
adjacent thereto in a public right of way or private right of way
shall be subject to a quarterly fee of: $40.00

 

4. New water main connections – The customer is required to
contact the Town Water District Office. TBD

 

5. Other services:
a. Labor: $60.00 per hour per worker;
b. Backhoe (with operator), truck (with operator): actual cost
c. Materials: cost plus 20%;

d. Shut/off turn on $45.00
e. New service and other miscellaneous work: actual cost

 

6. All charges will be collected through the Town’s Water District.
Upon request of the customer cost may be paid in four equal quarterly
installments, the first installment to be paid upon the next quarterly billing by the
Water District and thereafter each quarter until paid in full.
Suspected theft, misappropriation of water or tampering with water from the Water District
infrastructure or apparatus shall result in a referral to law enforcement for investigation.
The Town Hall is in compliance with accessibility standards of the Americans With Disabilities
Act. Any person with a handicap wishing to attend and/or be heard at the public hearing should
contact the Town Clerk’s Office at least three (3) business days prior to the date of the public
hearing to request any special needs.


All persons interested in this issue will be heard by the Town Board at the Public Hearing to be
held as stated above.
A copy of the proposed rates may be examined at the Office of the Clerk of the Town of
Prattsburgh, 19 North Main Street, Prattsburgh, NY 14837 during regular business hours.

EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY

The Town of Prattsburgh seeks qualified candidates for a position with the Town’s
Highway Department. A Class B operator’s license is recommended and be within twenty (20)
minutes travel time to the Town Highway Department in the Hamlet of Prattsburgh. Candidates
will be required to take a pre hire drug test and employees are subject to random drug testing.
The Highway Department is a union shop, however, membership is not required.
